Führer leaves WoW

Führer leaves WoW

If there were an award for the best continuous localization for an MMO, World of Warcraft would get it. While others release games without even the tutorial and tool tips localized (I am not going to point fingers, don’t want to suffer the Wrath of Kahn), Blizzard’s in-house localization team is doing a great job, year in, year out.

Now they made a mistake . They translated “leader” with “Führer.” Yep, the word you English natives pronounce like furor.

I have been in this situation many times and always chose the word “Anführer” (synonym), Blizzard’s team corrected their mistake and replaced it with “Leiter” (synonym).

A mistake it was. In German, we try and avoid the stand-alone version of the word (“Reiseführer” (guide) is just fine). Since there are so many synonyms, really not a problem.

It’s not a big thing. It was corrected. Let’s move on. Lest we forget.

He, what do you think about the “Antreiber”, it’s kinda casual maybe but sounds nice still does it?
English speakers would like it too, like Wunderkind and UBER-this and UBER-that ;) .
    Untribor :p
I came here by accident looking for info on a noscript-like script for opera.
allegedly some extension called blockit is something somewhat similar to noscript, apparently not as elaborated.
I haven’t tried it yet, and I guess I wont to be honest.
I never got why opera never made any effort to get a tool like noscript integrated.
It’s a really well thought piece of software, and yet it takes away the comfort of simplicity in concern of the appearance of websites, it gives you the comfort of a little plus in the security area.
Noscript and adblock, plus flashgot are the main reasons why I changed from Opera to FF.
Because my Kaspersky sometimes identified a JS.File in the opera cache as a trojan.
Of course I cant tell if it really was, also trojan seems to be a pretty general term these days.
Still, it always gave me a rumble in my stomach when my AV found sth. like that.
Anyhow, I love Opera for the layout, the look, it is just so much more appealing to my eyes.
At least I could replace most of the features Opera had in FF like the speed dial and the gestures.
However I really miss the customizable search bar, I just love it in Opera. All search boxes you ever need on one bar, always directly accessible.
I kind of got around that in FF by adding a bookmark bar in FF, but obviously that’s not as convenient.
    Cheers!
