About

My experience as a language professional spans more than 15 years. As an editor for a daily newspaper in Germany, I was one of the first German journalists to write about video games in the mainstream media. After moving to Canada and perfecting my English skills, I became a full-time translator with the new millennium and specialize since 2005 in the localization and translation of games, both as a freelancer and in-house contractor (English into German).

Having worked as a project manager myself, I know what agencies need: reliable, knowledgeable and fast language professionals with experience and excellent communication skills. Competitive rates in a competitive market. Prompt answers to inquiries by email or IM. Excellent translations.

As a gamer I started in the 80s with text-based adventures with an English to German dictionary on the desk next to my home computer. Now I spend some of my time as a casual raider in World of Warcraft, have characters in other MMOs and two consoles to play games such as Silent Hill, Heavy Rain or Dragon Age with my wife (and sometimes with my cat).

My experience as a gamer reduces my ambiguity questions and clarifications to an absolute minimum. I always strive to create immersive in-game texts, the kind of texts I myself would appreciate.

I offer all my trusted clients the following services included in my per word rate at no charge:

  • Follow-up translation (“The client added a sentence and wants it back by tonight”)
  • Glossary and terminology creation
  • Sharing of translation memories (Trados)
  • Free translation tests during acquisition of new clients
